What started as a creative outlet in 2021 became something I never could have imagined.
It started with a name.
During one of the hardest seasons of my life, I needed something that was mine. Something I could pour myself into, create with my hands and find a little joy in again.
The name came first. Jalex is a combination of my kids’ middle names, Jade + Alexander. It made something deeply personal a part of everything I created from the very beginning.
What started at home, one product and one order at a time, slowly became something much bigger than I ever expected.
AND THEN THINGS GOT A LITTLE BOOKISH.
What started with handmade gifts and drinkware kept evolving as I did. I followed the things I genuinely loved creating, and eventually my love of reading found its way into Jalex too.
Blind Date with a Book became a customer favorite, bookish designs started taking over my workspace, and suddenly this little creative outlet had grown into a brand full of things I would want as a reader myself.

Today, Jalex Designs is all about making your bookish era a little more fun. Blind Dates with a Book, bookish apparel, drinkware, accessories and all the little extras that make being a reader feel like a whole personality.
Everything is thoughtfully designed, curated or made by me with a slightly unreasonable amount of attention paid to the details. From what goes inside the package to how everything looks sitting on a market table, I want every little detail to add to that ohhh, I need this feeling.
The little details are kind of a big deal.
I’m the person who will redo something because it’s almost right. I’ll fuss over the packaging, rearrange a market display one more time and obsess over the tiny details most people probably wouldn’t think twice about.
Not because everything has to be perfect, but because I care about how it all comes together. Whether you’re opening an order at home, unwrapping a Blind Date with a Book or finding us at a market, I want it to feel thoughtful, fun and unmistakably Jalex.
Because bookish things shouldn’t be boring.
And somehow, we’re just getting started.
What started as something I needed for myself has become something I get to share with you, and that part will never stop feeling a little surreal.
Every order, every market hello, every Blind Date you unwrap and every Jalex tee you wear out into the world means there’s someone on the other side enjoying something I created. I don’t take that for granted.
